How did you discover green beauty: I’ve always loved cosmetics. I remember being in college and getting such a kick out of buying new beauty products. For example if I was feeling down, I'd cheer myself up by buying a new gloss or cleanser. Once I started learning about some of the questionable ingredients in the products I was buying, I started seeking out cleaner alternatives and discovered the site Spirit Beauty Lounge which is a site that sells luxe green beauty brands. Tata Harpers Resurfacing mask was the first product I ordered and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Daily makeup routine: On a day to day basis I keep my makeup super simple. I’ll wear Silk Naturals HD Stick Foundation and RMS "Un" powder, then add something shimmer to my lids. Next I curl my lashes and add mascara. I am currently loving Lady Green Divine Mascarade. To finish off, I'll add a little blush and a balm or lipstick.
Holy grail skincare products: Tata Harper’s resurfacing mask is my holy grail mask. It is so darn good! Another favorite is, Josh Rosebrooks Cacao Andioxidant mask. I was blown away at how soft it made my skin. Both masks are a little expensive but they are worth every penny. I also love Andalou Naturals Kukui Cocoa Body Body Butter and their Turmeric + C Enlightened Serum which I use as a moisturizer.
Haircare must haves: I switch out my shampoo and conditioner quite often but the one thing I can’t be with out is California Baby Calming Hair Detangler. I spray this on my hair as soon as I get out of the shower to neutralizer the effects of LA’s hard water. It’s kind of like a toner for hair and I love it!
Go to fragrance: Leahlani Organic Perfume Oils are so incredible. My favorites are Pua Lei and Mahana. They both remind me of the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
Favorite nail polish line: I love Deborah Lippmann and LVX polishes. Both brands make beautiful, modern shades.
Beauty products you can't live with out: Deodorant, body oil and mascara.
Favorite high end beauty product: Gressa Minimalist Serum Foundation
Favorite drugstore item: Shea Moisture eyeliner. Their liners don’t run. Even when you apply them to the waterline!
Go to shop for green beauty: I like to shop at the Detox Market when I am on the westside in Los Angeles. Otherwise Whole Foods, Target and discount retailers like TJ Maxx are are my go-to spots.
Beauty secret: Use a mask or cleaners made of clay to wash and detox your arm pits. This is a great tip especially when you are transitioning to a new deodorant.
Why do you value self-care: Self-care is important to me because it's a way to honor and show love to yourself. I think it's vital to do what it takes to take care of yourself so that you can be of sound mind, body and spirit.
Who inspires you: My mom inspires me. She’s been through it all and she never lets it affect her sunny disposition. My dog inspires me. He’s so zen and always in the moment. I've got so much to learn from him. :) In general however I am also inspired by people who are authentic and caring.
Final thoughts: Thank you so much for checking out my blog! Green Beauty is something I am passionate about and it is my hope, through this blog, that readers will come to find the inspiration to pursue their own green beauty journeys.
