How did you discover green beauty: I was first introduced to green beauty after being diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago. As I started radiation treatment, I was told I couldn't use antiperspirant (deodorant with aluminum). It was then when my quest to find a natural deodorant began. This health scare made me curious about what I was actually putting on my body, exactly what ingredients were in my beauty products and the long term effects they were causing. I researched extensively in order to educate myself and slowly began swapping out my products one by one. It is this journey that has lead me to green beauty and helped open my eyes to the importance of using clean and organic products.
Daily makeup routine: My day to day makeup is very minimal and extremely natural. I like to keep my looks simple, yet put together. My goal at the end of it is to look like a slightly enhanced version of myself. I'm a total tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara and lipstick type of gal. I may also do a one all over eyeshadow look like RMS Beauty Garden Rose Swift Shadow in GR-19 on days when I'm feeling extra fancy. In the summer, a good tinted moisturizer like Josh Rosebrook's Nutrient Day Cream Tinted SPF 30 is my holy grail. Right now, I'm really enjoying a more dewy look to my complexion therefore I love cream blush. My go to shade for winter is cult favorite Kjaer Weis in Desired Glow. It's the perfect, dreamy peachy shade that gives me the most natural looking glow from within. My absolute favorite natural mascara is actually a concoction which includes one generous coat of Lily Lolo followed by another of Ilia Beauty mascara in Nightfall. This combo gives my otherwise wimpy lashes the most insane length, curl and volume... what else could a girl ask for in a natural mascara. Also, a major plus is that it doesn't flake nor transfer on me which is amazing since I do have pretty oily lids. When it comes to my everyday lipstick I love a good mauve shade, a my-lips-but-better lippie with a hint of plum. My go to ATM is Kosas in Rosewater. For a weekend date look or GNO I very much enjoy playing with bolder shades like a matte fuchsia lippie from Rituel De File in Love In Madness. I feel like this is such a me shade and quite frankly flatters my olive complexion quite well which is why it's my absolute go to shade. For those nights when I'm feeling a bit more sassy, I adore rocking a classic red lip. My most recent obsession is Kjaer Weis in KW Red.
Skin care favorites: I love anything from Josh Rosebrook's line, he just gets my skincare needs. I cannot live without his Hydrating Accelerator, it smells divine, like vanilla rose infused cupcakes and has the most beautiful delicate mist. His Cacao Antioxidant Mask is also the perfect skin pick me up in a jar!
Hair care must haves: As a gal who was naturally gifted curly locks at birth, it's imperative for me to own a hydrating hair oil to moisturize, protect and add shine. I like Uma Intensely Nourishing Oil, it also has the most exquisite scent! A good deep treatment conditioner like John Masters Lavender & Avocado Intensive Hair Conditioner. Last but not least, an effective dry shampoo which provides volume, texture as well as extends the life of my blow outs. My all time favorite is Captain Blankenship Mermaid Dry Shampoo.
Go-to fragrance: Pretty Bird by Florescent is hands down my most beloved fragrance. Another honorable mention and perhaps known as my signature scent is Aquarian Rose by Strange Invisible. It's exceptionally clean, vibrant yet alluring at the same time. The scent will linger all day and naturally evolve into a more complex and interesting aroma.
One beauty product you can't live with out: Lipstick of course and also a good face balm. Currently on rotation is Mahalo's Rare Indigo Balm, which my skin can never seem to get enough of. I also use this as a multipurpose product. I apply it on my cuticles as a nourishing treatment as well as to soothe my eczema.
A beauty product you've tried and were blown away by the results: For me, it has to be Josh Rosebrook's Cacao Antioxidant Mask. It literally does it all, exfoliates, detoxifies, brightens, firms, hydrates and leaves your complexion so soft for days.
Favorite high end beauty product: RL Linden Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist. It's not your basic rose hydrosol, it's much more refined, extremely luxe and oh so intoxicating!
Favorite drugstore item: Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub. I've repurchased it several times and have gifted it to so many girlfriends.
Go-to shop for green beauty: The Detox Market is hands down where you'd most likely find me either replenishing my trusty favorites or discovering new brands. I can seriously play with makeup there for hours, swatching lipsticks, lathering myself with luxurious oils, spritzing sensual scents and testing out the latest, greatest, lust worthy beauty potions.
Beauty secret: Embrace all of what Mother Earth has to offer. You will constantly find me going out to my garden and cutting off an aloe leaf for a face mask or some rosemary for a hair rinse. These are all natural, free and are some of the most tried and effective ingredients I've used.
Why do you value self care: Self care to me is an extremely essential beauty regimen not only as a skin care routine but for our health and mental wellbeing. I truly believe in finding the time to pamper oneself at least once a week for 20 mins max if possible. This is so crucial for maintaining self love, overall performance and functioning. It can significantly soothe away stress levels, rejuvenate skin, help recharge our overall energy, as well as assist in motivation. It's also key for building confidence and acknowledging we are worth taking this time for ourselves.
What inspires you: What truly resinates and inspires me are strong, driven, and creative woman. There's just something so appealing to me about successful women who are encouraging, supportive and are always willing to uplift other like minded women.
Top 3 Favorite Restaurants in LA: Crossroads, Gracias Madre & Little Pine.
Final thoughts: In my opinion, natural beauty radiates from the inside out. What you put into your body (the foods you nurture it with) will always shine through on the outside (your skin/complexion). What's currently working for me, is feeding my skin lots of colorful vegetables & fruits, keeping it super hydrated of course and getting a sufficient doze of beauty sleep. A superfoods smoothie or juice a day is helping me keep my skin looking healthy and at it's best! Find what works for you, be consistent and do all things with a grateful heart.
